Smite Monks in RT4v4
I have such mixed feelings about those guys.
On the one hand, if no one on your team is a complete newbie, the smite monk is the most impotent kind of build in RT4v4. Using the incredibly complex strategy of not standing next to him/her while the Aura is going, or just using an interrupt, they’re easy to deal with.
On the other hand, the number of people that just stand there and take it is staggering.
I eventually gave in and gave the build a try and was shocked at how many people are unable to beat it. I named my characters things like “Run From Smite,” I’d announce to all at the beginning of a round that I was a smiting monk, and I still had people charging in to die. The funniest was when I announced I was a smite monk, and someone on the other team said “Smite sucks ass.” The round started, and four warriors charged directly for me. They died. The guy who said that smite sucked said “…hax” and left.
I think that on the whole I love them. They’re so easy to deal with, and any teammates that would be unable to deal with a smite monk aren’t teammates I’d go very far with.

Everyone runs at the same speed. You can be fleeing from a wa/mo who pounced you midcasting, and still have his aura and zealots fire hitting you.
course it can still be easily countered with either snares or enchant strips. Good teams have both of these things.

It's just absolutely hilarious when somone charges up to a smiting monk only to get decimated by their skills. I think they would realise when they see symbol of wrath -XX, balthazar's aura -XX and zealot's fire -XX pop up over their head that it is time to stop attacking the monk and run.
And your title seems strangely familiar to Warcraft 3. Random team 4v4.

Stupidity of guild wars players is unlimited:
So there was this second opposite team with 2 monks, 2 air eles, 3 warriors and 1 necro in the TOMBS and I was a protection monk with spell breaker and baltazars aura (at 7 smiting) in a mainly smiting team.
I rushed into it with spell breaker on me (like I always do against air builds), my team yelled to come back, I ran back (after noticing 3 warriors and me being far out) for a short time...
But then our healing monk cast healing seed on me while i still had spell breaker so I thought, ah lets try it, healing seed AND spel lbreaker should not be wasted...
I "blocked" the 3 warriors around the corner next to the opponents flag stand (that shot at me) WHILE I broke a ton of air elementalist skills that elementalists tried to cast on me WHILE I smited 3 warriors (that healed me with healing seed) and a necro WHILE my team smited and protected me and Tainded Fleshed me...
One Warrior ran away after 10 seconds of "stupid team smiting", he lived 5 seconds longer than the rest of his team.
Yes, they are in the tombs too and they get smited easily.

Some of the most effective Random Arena builds are based on the fact that usually more than a couple of the 7 other people in your match will vigorously defy what most players hold as common sense.

I tried running my Mo/E smiter as a utility class in RT 4v4 right after I read your post, and hey, 24 win streak. People just don't know how to run, I guess...

Yes and no. They won't automatically follow you, and so if you can surprise him or her when you make a break for it, you can usually get clear.

its not that hard to win against a smiter/invincimonk, just get a necro with lingering curse or desecrate enchantments..or both
